Slim-Line™

Can I order a "two-tone" unit, White inside and Stone outside for instance? Yes. The new Slim-Line Slider comes standard with a factory-finished interior and exterior in one of four colors; White, Almond, Stone and Bronze. An available option is to mix interior and exterior colors (i.e., White interior and Stone exterior). In addition, custom colors of virtually any tone, hue and shade are an available option (subject to certain minimum order requirements).

Is the handle set included with the unit? Each active panel unit includes a handle set in a choice of three finishes. In addition, handle sets are available separately to allow mixing of handle finish colors on Two-Tone units.

Will the "pre-finished white" color of all patio products be the same and suitable for mixing on the job, such as a white Slim-Line unit adjacent to a FC hinged unit? FC and SS Patio Systems will feature a matching white finish. Slim-Line, while white, will be a slightly different hue due to the manufacturing and finishing process.

Can the Slim-Line factory prefinished be repainted? Yes. Detailed instructions on how to prep the unit and the recommended paints are available through Therma-Tru Tech Services (1-800-THERMATRU).

My customer wants to match their trim to the Slim-Line finish. How can they match the finish color? A sheet with paint color codes and mixing formulas is available through Tech Services (1-800-THERMATRU).

Does the unit have a nailing or installation fin? An optional fin is available in 7' and 8' lengths. Will be standard in 2004.

How is the unit installed? Complete assembly and installation instructions are included with each unit.

Can I buy the unit preassembled? Slim-Line is available from Therma-Tru only as an RTA unit and shipped in our exclusive UniBox packaging.

Is the stationary panel permanently fixed or can it be removed? Removal is relatively easy. Simply reverse the process as shown in the installation instructions.

Are the tandem rollers replaceable? Yes, see next question for more details.

Are there stainless steel rollers available for coastal applications? The standard rollers are zinc-dichromate plated and are highly corrosion resistant. However, stainless steel replacement rollers are available for the extreme demands of coastal/saltwater applications.

Can the pultruded fiberglass be repaired if damaged? Nicks, dings and scrapes can be filled with body filler or epoxy, then sanded and re-painted. A small bottle of touch-up finish is provided with each RTA unit.

What are the unit dimensions? 6/8 units are 79-1/2" tall. 8/0 units are 95-1/2" tall. All unit widths are ½" under the call-out size.

The standard frame depth is 5-3/4” but my walls are 2x6 construction. Can I order a 6-9/16” frame? 5-3/4" frames are the only size available. Thicker wall conditions require the use of an internal jamb extender or drywall return (both provided "by others").

What is the standard glass in Slim-Line? For maximum energy efficiency all Slim-Line patios are glazed with Low-E glass standard.

Are the panels field reglazable? Yes. A sheet with detailed instructions for field reglazing is available from Tech Services.

Is there a foot-bolt type lock available for Slim-Line? Foot-bolt locks in multiple colors are available for the Slim-Line Sliding Patio System (refer to the Therma-Tru Price Guide).

I can’t find an answer to my question here. Where can I get more information? Answers to most any product related issues could be found by calling Therma-Tru Technical Services. Consumers, builders, dealers and distributors can reach Technical Services by calling: 1-800-THERMATRU (1-800-THERMATRU) Mon-Fri 8:30am to 4:45pm Eastern Time.

Why are the Standard and Deluxe Screens at Different Heights? The deluxe screen overhangs the screen track more for an improved fit in the frame.

Do the exposed ends of wood stiles wick water and rot? The wicking is a non-issue, assuming their door shop builds the door according to instructions. The bead of silicone caulk placed on each end of the door bottom seals the end grain at the bottom of the door. The top is not exposed to/does not trap water for extended periods of time. Although a shop could also caulk the top exposed end grain if they chose to do so. Covering the end grain with a caulk/paraffin is the same technique that a number of the "rot-proof" jambs are taking, ex. Boulangier. A wood door typically does not have a door bottom, and therefore MUST seal that end grain.
